Frequently Asked Questions
What is Restylane?
Restylane, made by Medicis, is a hyaluronic acid gel formula that is used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
How does Restylane work?
Restylane is injected directly into the skin in the area that you want to be treated. The areas are nasolabial folds (laugh lines), lip borders, marionette lines (around the mouth), and cheeks. Once Restylane is placed in the face, the skin becomes much more smooth and facial lines are minimized. The added volume and smooth texture give your face a healthy, youthful appearance. The Restylane injections work immediately by adding volume to diminish unwanted wrinkles. You can resume normal activities following treatment. Results are immediately evident, making this no- down-time procedure very popular. Individual facial analysis will determine how much Restylane is needed to optimize your desired results.
Does Restylane hurt?
Our Master Injectors use a very thin needle to reduce pain or discomfort. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the designated area and ice is applied to each area prior to injection. A nerve block could be used if desired, especially for lip injections. There is also a Restylane-L that contains an anesthetic ingredient in the gel that goes to work immediately to prevent pain. Many patients find the injections tolerable with little to no discomfort.
