Can Dermal Fillers Smooth my Wrinkles?

As we age, our skin becomes more susceptible to wrinkles and sagging. Sun exposure and years of muscle movement (e.g., smiling, chewing, and squinting) also contribute to tissue breakdown of the skin. Fortunately, there are innovative cosmetic procedures to help reverse this aging process and sustain one’s youth. Facial fillers, which are also known as “dermal fillers” and “injectables”, are treatments administered through a few tiny injections on specific areas of the face. Various types of dermal fillers are available, each designed for one or several purposes, such as wrinkle reduction and/or lip augmentation. The Sherman Aesthetic Center offers the full range of the latest FDA approved dermal fillers. Our staff of professionals can work with you to determine which dermal filler will provide you with optimal and rejuvenating results.

What are Dermal Fillers, and how do they work?
Facial fillers work by safely restoring lost volume under the skin, softening wrinkles and emptiness from aging, most commonly in the lips and around the creases around the mouth, often called the “parentheses”. Recent advances in technology have allowed for longer lasting and natural results. If you would like to restore facial contours, or reduce the appearance of lines and creases, injection therapy with soft tissue dermal fillers may be right for you.
Commonly used facial fillers include those made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural sugar, a component that occurs naturally in our skin. Brands including Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, Refyne, Defyne, Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Volbella, and Juvederm Vollure vary in thickness and consistency. Depending on the patient and product, some treatments can last from four to 12 months. We will perform a facial analysis and determine which facial filler is right for you based on your skin type and thickness.
How long does the procedure take?
Are you a busy Mom, a working woman, or both? Here’s the good news: the procedure takes 10-30 minutes and can be done in our office on the day of the consultation. There is no significant downtime.
When can you resume normal activities?
You can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
What are the potential side effects?
There could be some swelling and bruising, which could last for two or three days in most cases. Some patients report tenderness and redness for several days. Sherman Aesthetic Center has a unique regimen that we use that dramatically reduces the chance of bruising and swelling. This regimen combined with the expertise of Master Injectors will help minimize the potential side effects and maximize recovery.
